It also helps in inhibiting amyloid plaques in individuals suffering from alzheimers disease. They are also effective against skin diseases, such as psoriasis and eczema. The essential fatty acids in walnuts have a hypotensive effect. They lower the bad cholesterol and the blood pressure. It is also seen to be effective in the diet of patients suffering from diabetes mellitus. Cognitive function is enhanced and tehreby improves mental functioning. Walnuts prove beneficial against renal diseases. They prevent the breakdown of acetyl choline and help in relieving constipation. Walnuts possess anti carcinogenic properties. Ellagic acid in walnuts functions as antioxidants. The omega 3 fatty acid help in better cardiac functioning and has anti inflammatory properties.
