Weight reduction is recommended on the basis of your present height, weight, age, sex and physical activity. Generally weight reduction is achieved by a combination of lifestyle modification and dietary change. Lifestyle modification involves exercising, avoiding smoking and alcohol.
Dietary change involves the framing of a strict and healthy dietary pattern, with or without the help of a nutritionist. Involve fresh fruits and vegetables and avoid the intake of fatty foods. Carbonated beverages in combination with junk foods such as pizzas and potato wedges are a real wreck to the body. Saturated fats are avoided and a combination of poly unsaturated and mono unsaturated fats are preferred. Whole fruits are consumed instead of fruit juices.
Keeping oneself well hydrated is equally essential. Fibrous or complex carbohydrates are preferred to simple starches such as cereals, pasta and tubers. Fasting and feasting are harmful in their own ways. Avoiding a meal makes you binge eat or over indulge in the next meal. Fatty meats should be substituted by lean meats. Exercise and yoga go hand in hand. Losing weight is as important as maintaining it. Exercising can be as simple as walking or jogging. Swimming and hitting a gym is equally result yielding.
