UTI or urinary tract infection is painful and commonly seen in women. The nitrogenous wastes pass through the various parts of the urinary tract. Infection in the ureters, kidney or the urethra results in urinary tract infection.
The lower part of the tract, namely the bladder and urethra are commonly infected. Antibiotics are the most common and easily accessible form of treatment. Continuous urge to urinate with a burning sensation is an important sign.
Acute pyelonephritis, cystitis and urethritis are the different kinds of infection, on the basis of the part affected. Microscopic microbes enter the urinary tract and proliferation takes place. Bacteria in the urine are not indicative of infection at all times. The type of antibiotics prescribed depends on the kind and severity of infection. Avoid using deodorants and other chemical irritants in the private areas. Urinating after sexual intercourse is recommended. Fluid consumption should be increased in the form of juices, barley water and so on. Spicy and fatty foods are better avoided. Keeping the personal areas clean and hygienic proves beneficial in easy treatment.
