Mumps happens to be an infection of the salivary glands located behind and below the ears. It a viral infection and it usually subsides by itself in a week to ten days, but its highly contagious. So be careful. Nowadays most children are inoculated against Mumps but you can never be too sure so here are a few home remedies which can use to control the painful side effect of mumps -
Chebulic Myrobalan (Haritaki) is an excellent home remedy for taking care of mumps. Make a thick paste by grinding it in water and apply onto affected area. Most people feel a great deal of relief.
You can apply a cloth of mullein tea to the affected area for relief.
Grind the seeds of asparagus along with an equal amount of fenugreek seeds and make a paste for application on the affected area.
Make a thick past of Margosa leaves and mix with the paste of fresh turmeric to make a cooling mixture. Apply externally to the affected areas as much as possible to reduce the swelling and pain.
Please remember that Mumps is highly contagious so isolate yourself for the ten to fifteen days it requires the infection to subside.
