Your main complaint seems to be the thick cough which can cause a hernia right? You need to ask a few questions to yourself like, are you on any medications which can cause such a drying effect of the system? Are you a smoker?

Do you use any other type of medication to control asthma? Are you allergic to any thing? A few common home remedies to soothe your painful cough will be,

  • Drinking ample fluids at least two to three liters to thin out the thick mucus throughout the day.

  • Avoid caffeine and alcohol which are drying on the respiratory tract.
  • Drink a lot of pineapple juice before and after meals. The papain enzyme the tropical juice is an excellent thinner of thick mucus and coughs.
  • Angelica root tincture is really helpful in reducing the painful type of cough you are having.
  • The blessed thistle and burdock root are also very effective controlling symptoms of painful cough.

If these remedies do not help, please try contacting your doctor to check for allergies or mild asthma or a bronchitis attack. Please write to me if I’ve made a mistake and you were talking about your hernia problem.
