A pregnancy can be a time of immense adjustments and if this is your first then it’s a time of intense joy too. There’s nothing much you have to do during your pregnancy except eat well and follow a few basic, safety steps to keep healthy. Pregnancy tips
- Get a complete health check up done as soon as your pregnancy test is confirmed.
- If you have any chronic conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure, talk to your doctor about adjusting medication levels. To be on the safer side, try to avoid any medications during the first three months of pregnancy. Start supplementing your diet with fish oil capsules, folic acid and calcium tablets and iron capsules.
- Choose a good Obstetrician and Pediatrician and stick to them.
- Visit your doctor every month until the 28th week of pregnancy, then every 2 weeks till the 36th week and then once a week till delivery. And keep a detailed record of every visit.
- You have to put on approximately 10-12 kgs of weight or 15-25 pounds to have a healthy baby. Don’t worry the weight is automatically lost after pregnancy during breast feeding.
- Avoid heavy physical exercise and report any sudden loss of water or bleeding with cramps to the doctor immediately.
