Yes it is normal to have vaginal discharge. There are certain glands in the vagina and cervix which produces small amounts of fluid, this fluid is secreted daily from the vagina along with the old cells in the lining of the vagina. This is the body’s natural mechanism to keep the vagina clean and healthy. This discharge normally does not have any off odor and is clear or milk in color. The consistency, color and thickness largely depend on the changes in ones monthly cycle. When you ovulate or when you are sexually exited or when you breastfeed this discharge is thicker and milky.

However if there are some changes in the discharge in terms of color or if you have excessive discharge with an off odor or if you have an burning or irritating sensation near your vagina it can be due to some underlying cause or infection. Consult a specialist (gynecologist) to know the exact cause and treatment would follow accordingly.
