Bumps on the tongue can be due to different reasons like an allergic reaction to certain food or to a particular medication, canker sores, some bacterial infections, oral herpes simplex virus infection, tuberculosis or early syphilis. It can also be due to other immune system disorders or allergies. Consult a specialist to know the exact cause for the bumps on your tongue as the problem might not be serious, but there may be some underlying cause.
Keep your self well hydrated. Drink at least 10-12 glasses of water daily. To keep your mouth moist you can also chew sugar free gum.
This will help increase the production of saliva in the mouth and avoid mouth dryness. Take special care while cleaning your tongue; don’t put extra pressure on these bumps. If you are under any medication check the ingredients and inform your specialist about the same. Stop smoking or chewing tobacco completely as this can worsen your problem.
