Try these simple home remedies to decrease the swelling in your gums.
Sip and swish warm water with added salt between your teeth and gums. This will have a soothing effect on your swollen gums.
Repeat this several times in a day.
Put few ice cubes in a plastic bag or towel and apply it over the affected area, or suck on small ice cubes. Ice will help in reducing the swelling and pain (by serving as local anesthetic).
Avoid smoking cigarette and chewing tobacco as far as possible as it can worsen your swelling in the gums.
Keep good oral hygiene. Brush your teeth at least twice daily and clean your tongue properly.
If the swelling worsens and is accompanied with pain, pus or infection then consult a specialist for immediate medical assistance.
