Halitosis is often caused due to many reasons like dehydration, inadequate oral hygiene, excess sugar intake or some underlining cause. Try the following home remedies for halitosis -
- Maintain appropriate oral hygiene. Brush your teeth and clean the tongue at least twice daily (once in the morning and once at night before going to bed).
- Increase your fluid consumption (sugar free fluids) to avoid dehydration and mouth dryness.
- To promote saliva production in mouth chew sugar free gums and prevent halitosis.
- Boil 2tsp fenugreek seeds in a liter of water for 15 minutes. Strain this water and use it as a mouthwash to prevent halitosis.
- Raw guava or guava leaves also works against halitosis. The tannic acid, oxalic acid and malic acid along with calcium, magnesium and phosphoric acid helps.
- Boil parsley and few cloves in water for 10 minutes. Strain and use this water as a mouthwash 4-5 times a day. This will help cure bad breath.
If you have any dental or gum problem then consult a dentist, as these problems can also cause halitosis.
