Premature graying can be due to many causes like heredity, mental worries, hormonal imbalance, faulty eating habits, alopecia areata, unhygienic conditions of scalp or lack of certain vitamins (especially vitamin B12). Some emotions like anxiety or failures pose stress on the scalp skin hindering the supply of vital nutrients to hair.

Few natural cures on graying hair-

  • If premature graying is due to vitamin deficiency (vitamin B12) then include meat, eggs, milk and milk products in the diet.

Non-vegetarian and fermented foods are good source of vitamin B12.
  • Other foods of importance for premature graying are black sesame seeds, fruits, dark green leafy vegetables, whole grains, sprouts and pulses.
  • Boil 50 g hibiscus leaves in 250ml coconut oil for 30 minutes, add 2 pieces of camphor.

Strain and massage this oil on alternate days for best results.
  • Add freshly grated ginger to honey and store it in a bottle. Drink 1tsp of this ginger-honey mixture daily to prevent further graying. Honey works wonders for graying hair problem.
  • Wash your hair with a natural shampoo using soaked (overnight) ritha pods.
  • Increase the intake of indian gooseberry or have indian gooseberry powder with honey, as indian gooseberry also helps to reduce grey hair.
  • Avoid any kind of emotional stress, anxiety or jealousy as these emotion tend to aggravate the problem.
