When our immune system fails to perform its job, herpes zoster a common virus for both chicken pox and shingles takes charge which results in shingles. Try the following home remedies to get rid of the painful shingles blisters.
- A paste made from baking soda and water when applied on the affected area would provide relief.
- Crush two aspirins in acetone (which is commonly used as a nail polish remover) to make a fine, smooth paste. Apply this paste on the affected areas, this will provide instant relief.
- Apply calamine lotion on the itchy skin to keep the skin dry and avoid pain and itching
- Apply some hydrogen peroxide over the blisters (works best on infected blisters) to heal them.
- Never scratch or burst the blisters. Raw honey or aloe vera gel also work wonders to heal the blisters.
- Avoid arginine rich foods like chocolates, nuts, seeds and cereal grains.
