Try the following home remedies to handle the infection -
Apply warm water compresses on the eye with the help of a clean washed cotton cloth. Keep on the eye for few minutes, and repeat 3-4 times a day.
The tannic acid in tea helps to heal an infection.
Place warm tea bags over the eyes and relax for 10-15 minutes.
Wash your eye with a solution containing ¼ tsp baking soda in ½ cup water to get rid of the infection.
An eye infection can spread easily so avoid sharing towels or handkerchiefs with other members of the family and friends. Also avoid scratching the eye as it can further spread the infection.
Avoid wearing any contact lenses or an eye makeup.
Consult a specialist (ophthalmologist) if the infection worsens to know the exact diagnosis and the treatment would follow accordingly.
