Home Remedies for Lice
Head lice are always easy to prevent then to treat. It takes great efforts and a long time to cure head lice. Getting rid of head lice is getting rid of all nits and eggs of lice that are difficult to kill. Eggs of lice are firmly attached on the hair shafts and are too hard to be pulled out. Following are some of the effective and beneficial tips for preventing and treating head lice:
- Good hygiene is very essential for preventing lice.
- Don't share your combs, brushes, towels and hats with everyone.
- Avoid any kind of head to head contact with anyone.
- Vigorous brushing or combing can help you knock out lice.
- Prepare a mixture of ½ cup olive oil and 2-3 tbsp of tea tree oil. Rub this prepared mixture into your scalp and allow it to dry. After 30-40 minutes wash off your hair and rinse with vinegar as vinegar will help in loosening the holding properties of eggs or nits. Rinse with water and comb with a lice comb.
- Adding few drops of tea tree oil in our daily shampoo is also an effective cure for head lice.
- You can even try a mixture of edible oil such as vegetable oil, canola oil or olive oil and vinegar in equal amount. Add few drops of tea tree oil and apply the paste on damp hair. Comb through the ends of your hair and wrap a plastic bag covering your head. This will cause suffocation to lice and nits, potentially, getting rid of head lice.
