Prevention of Cholera
Cholera is an infection caused by bacterium Vibrio cholerae in the small intestine. The major factor contributing to the bacterial infection is poor sanitation. Symptoms of cholera can vary depending on the intensity of bacterial infection. The most common symptoms of cholera are onset of watery diarrhea, dehydration, increased heart beat, low urine output, nausea, vomiting, dry mucus, tiredness and dry skin.
There are many natural ways of treating cholera but prevention is always better than cure. Therefore, I have a listing of preventive measures that can prevent the bacterial infection and keep you free from cholera. Read on the following tips to prevent cholera:
There are some vaccines that provide protection against cholera.
- Boil and distill your water before drinking.
- You can even treat your water with chlorine or iodine before drinking.
- Eat well cooked and hot foods.
- Don't store any food items in refrigerator and eat after three or four days.
- Eat fresh fruits and peel it yourself. Avoid consuming fruits that are peeled by someone else or kept unpeeled for long.
- Restrict your intake of undercooked foods.
- Raw fish and shellfish are major culprits that cause cholera.
- Don't consume anything available from street vendors.
- Avoid eating raw salads and vegetables.
