Diaper rash treatment

Our baby has had a yeast diaper rash that just won't clear up. We took her to the pediatrician 3 times, had 2 different meds prescribed. It just about clear, getting down to a few bumps, then comes right back. Any suggestion?

Natural treatment for diaper rash
  • Keep the area dry at all times. After your baby passes motions, clean the area with warm water and wipe it with a soft cotton cloth. Now, dry the area with the help of a hair dryer and dust it with some baby or talcum powder.

You can also dust the area with cornstarch powder 3 to 4 times a day.
  • During the day you can also massage the area lightly with some warm mustard oil and leave it for a 1 or 2 hours. Then wipe it with a warm napkin or towel.

  • Change the diapers frequently and use the soft cotton variety.
  • Let the area be aired properly by leaving it open for several hours a day.
  • Use cotton clothes for your baby as synthetic or nylon ones might aggravate the problem.
  • Mix some cornstarch powder and petroleum jelly and make a paste. Now, apply it on the bottom twice daily. Wipe it with a soft cloth or a piece of cotton after half an hour and leave it open for a while. Dust the bottom with baby powder and put a fresh diaper.
  • Check that your baby is not suffering from an allergy due to diapers. You might have to change them or discontinue using them for a while.
