Indigestion natural remedies Improper eating of food or poor mastication results in heartburn. Acid reflux or heartburn causes the flow of acid and the stomach contents into the oesophagus. Acidic foods, such as citrus juices and vinegar are avoided. Spices and pickles are not recommended. Physical or emotional stress is important culprits of heartburn. Digestion is triggered by turmeric powder and is therefore added in Indian cuisines. Chamomile tea is a home remedy that provides instant relief from indigestion.
