Scabies is a skin disease caused by tiny microscopic mites called Sarcoptes scabei. It is a highly contagious condition and spreads quickly by skin to skin contact. Try the following simple home remedies to cure scabies.
- The first point to emphasize when you have contracted scabies is personal hygiene.
- Extract fresh juice from apricot leaves and apply on the affected area. This has beneficial effects for scabies.
- Make a paste from margosa leaves, turmeric powder and add mustard oil in it. Apply this on the body and leave it for about an hour. Take a bath. This procedure should be repeated for 6-7 days to get rid of the mites.
- Clean and wash all the beddings, towels and clothes used by a person with scabies (with in 48 hours) in hot water. As it is highly contagious avoid sharing towels, clothes and beddings with other members of the family.
- Vacuum the carpets, rugs, furniture and other areas where there is a possibility for mites to spread. Discard the vacuum bags later.
If scabies is accompanied with skin infection, fever or pus drainage, then consult a specialist to get immediate medical attention.
