How to reduce a fever?

Fever home remedies

Fevers are characterised by a rise in body temperatures, aches and pains all over the body, burning eyes and dehydration. If your temperature goes over 100˚F it must be considered a fever and some home remedies can be tried. If it crosses 102˚ F, it might be wise to consult a doctor, specially if accompanied by a rash, or other complications.

The simplest and most effective of all home remedies remains the application of cool (not icy cold) compresses to the sufferer's body. Dip clean washcloths into a basin of cold water and lay on the forehead of the patient. Replace as soon as the coolness is lost. You could also sponge the person down with cool water. Make sure the patient wears thin cotton clothing and is in a well ventilated space.

When a person is feverish she may not feel like eating. Make sure that she has plenty of juices; especially orange juice. A hot drink is also advisable as it will help the patient to break out in a sweat and thus lower the temperature: hot teas of various kinds could be tried. You could also make a tea from fenugreek seeds and this should be drunk twice a day as it will both calm and cleanse.
