Hair loss is a very common problem in men and women. A normal, single hair lives up to four to five years before falling out and being replaced. It is an everyday occurrence and it is quite normal to lose up to a hundred strands per day.
There has to be a good balance in the hair growth and falling of hair. Any problem in the body system can disturb this balance causing more hair loss and eventually leading to baldness. One of the main causes of hair loss is inadequate nutrition, mainly lack of vitamin B6.
People with deficiency of folic acid suffer the most. Other causes can be age, genetic structure, and hormonal changes in the body, stress, and poor circulation of blood in the scalp or excess dandruff.
There are various things that one can do to prevent further hair loss. It is very important for you to always keep your hair clean. This would protect it from dandruff, hair lice, and itching, which eventually results in hair fall. Choose a good shampoo and conditioner depending on your particular hair type. Go for regular hair trimming, as split ends and damaged hair can also lead to hair loss. Another effective remedy to prevent hair loss is to wash your hair with cold water and then massage your scalp gently with your fingers till it starts to tingle with heat. The cold water closes up the cuticles, and the massage improves your blood circulation in the affected area, besides stimulating the sebaceous glands.
Applying coconut oil mixed with limewater or limejuice on the hair is also supposed to prevent hair loss. You can also boil mustard oil with henna leaves and apply this oil on your scalp, as this mixture helps with the healthy growth of hair. Similarly, grind lime seeds and black pepper in equal proportions, mix with a small quantity of water and apply this on the scalp daily. You can also use onions to prevent hair loss – simply cut and rub onions on the affected area twice a day, followed by the rubbing of honey. In general, the best hair loss remedy would be to eat well, avoid drinking and smoking and to use good quality hair care products that have minimal chemicals. Reduce stress; don't worry obsessively about natural hair loss. Treatments for temporary hair loss are readily available and a healthy lifestyle is the best counterpoint to the natural aging process.

Hair loss alternative remedies Hair loss is a natural part of the body's processes: as nails grow out and skin renews itself so does old hair fall out to be replaced by new hair. On an average each of us loses between 75-100 hairs a day. When it becomes necessary to worry is when hair loss becomes excessive due to reasons which may include stress, some medical conditions, certain medication or even heredity. Even pregnancy can cause accelerated hair loss. As can using too many harsh shampoos and hair styling agents or even tying your hair too tightly!
First of all make sure you switch to a mild shampoo and if you have to use styling gels, etc, make sure you wash them out as soon as you get home. As far as possible do not leave styling gels and conditioners in overnight.
Also do not tie your hair when wet nor tie it tightly. At least once a week take a little oil and massage it into the roots of your hair. Keep it on overnight and wash it the next morning. You could also try massaging an egg yolk into your head once a week, washing it off after an hour. Massaging your scalp with small circular movements of your fingertips (not nails) will improve the circulation to the head and help in preventing further hair loss.
