Cold home remedies
A runny nose implies some kind of infection. If you son has had this problem for some time now and the medication does not seem to have any effect, then you should consult your pediatrician. I would advise you to do so at the earliest since a long running cold or cough could be symptoms of other medical conditions.
First of all, you should keep your child warm. Ensure that he wears a hat that covers his ears. Keep him warm by using a hot water bottle to heat his bed. You can use some mild decongestants for your child. If these are not effective you can make a simple decongestant at home. Heat some oil. You can use any oil though coconut oil is usually effective. Now crush a few pieces of camphor in this. Let the camphor dissolve completely in the oil. However, take care to ensure that the oil does not burst into flames. When the camphor is completely dissolved, take off the heat and let it cool. Apply to the chest and back of the child at night. Liberal and regular application of this helps the child breathe better. You should give your child plenty of fluids which will help the mucous thin and then drain out.
