Dry skin home remedies

Dry skin may be caused due to a number of reasons. There could be genetic factors involved or a vitamin deficiency. You could also be facing the problems of mature, aging skin which includes dryness and fine lines.

Your skin could also become due to a change in the climate, as during winter. Since dry skin can also be an indication of a serious medical problem as well, if your symptoms last for more than a week, ensure you consult your doctor to rule out any complications. There are a number of things that you can do at home to combat dry skin such as taking a milk bath.

This will hydrate and nourish your skin. Use a face pack made of fruits such as papaya and peach to replenish the moisture. You can also apply mashed avocado to your skin for fresh and supple skin.

If you have a chronic dry skin problem, you should avoid bathing too many times each day and bathe with cooler water. You should ensure that you moisturize your skin after each bath. Very few moisturizers work with the same effectiveness of petroleum jelly. If the physical sensation of having vegetable oil on your body does not bother you, you can use oils such as sunflower and peanut as a very effective moisturizer. Use a humidifier near your bed at night to keep the moisture in your skin.
