Try the following home remedies for cold and to get back your voice -
- Salt water gargles (warm) 4-5 times a day will be very beneficial to get back your lost voice.
- Rest. Talk less and don’t whisper.
Whisper is in fact the worst thing you can do to your vocal cords.
- Soothe your throat with a ginger tea. Boil grated fresh ginger root in water with holy basil for some minutes. Add honey and drink it.
- You can also mix juices extracted from fresh ginger, holy basil and lime. Mix these with honey and eat two times in a day.
- Suck a sugarless candy or a ginger candy to hydrate your voice box, as this will also promote saliva production.
- Have soft food; include hot soups/broths with ginger and garlic in it.
- Avoid consumption of cold foods, fried/oily foods, cold drinks and carbonated cold beverages.
- Drink lots of warm water to soothe your throat and avoid smoking and alcohol completely.
