Arthritis is the inflammation of joints and bones. The following home remedies would help to relieve the pain of arthritis -
- Lose weight to relieve pain. Even one extra pound can put six times extra pressure put on the joints and knees which in turn increases the stress on the cartilage causing inflammation, pain, and swelling.
- Massage the joints gently with the help of warm olive oil to relieve pain. Other body massages and steam baths also prove beneficial.
- Add some Epsom salt in bathing water to relieve the stiffness and inflammation of joints.
- Rub hot vinegar on the aching joints before going to bed. This will help relive the pain in especially while sleeping. To avoid morning joint stiffness vitamin E oil can be applied on the joints at night before sleeping.
- Omega 3 fatty acids have a positive effect in the treatment of arthritis. Include fish like mackerel, salmon, tuna along with flaxseeds in the diet.
- Move, don’t sit at one place. For proper joint alignment moving correctly is very important. A physiotherapist or a yoga instructor can help you with the same.
- Learn to relax. Avoid any kind of stress, may it be physical or emotional as arthritis is very sensitive to stress.
