Black eye alternative remedies

A black eye is usually caused when you suffer a hard knock. The eye looks black to begin with often swells up. Sometimes the skin around the eye is puffed up, making it difficult for you to see out of that eye.

If you notice any blood or any injury around the eye, you should immediately consult a doctor.  Some people also experience blurred or double vision or even nausea after they get a black eye. You should consult a doctor in case of such problems.

Ice is the most effective treatment for a black eye. You can pack some ice cubes in a thin cloth and hold it to the injured eye. If you can't find ice, then you can use a bag of vegetables from your freezer. You can use a washcloth that has been dipped in some hot water to ease the pain around the eye. You should replace the water each time it gets cool and use only hot water. This will bring down the swelling and give you relief.  You can also use a raw potato to get relief. Cut a round slice out of a raw peeled potato and apply on the affected area. Another remedy that you can try involves peeling and grating the potato. Warp the grated potato in a thin cloth and hold over the affected eye.
