Metallic taste causes and cures A heavy metallic taste developing is a common occurrence. There are few reasons that could be attributed to it. The "metallic" taste could be a result of you taking some kind of new medication.
Something as simple as multi-vitamins, pre-natal vitamins or even certain types of antibiotics or anti-depressants can lead to this problem. If you have recently started taking some new medication, you can try to stop it, or change the brand for a while and see if that takes this taste away. Sometimes, you can also develop this taste if you have poor oral hygiene. In this case, you would have to be extra careful about your oral hygiene habits. You should brush your teeth thrice a day and each time, make it a point to clean your tongue as well. Use a tongue scraper to do this. It will wash away any residual tastes and also make you feel better and fresher.
Sometimes, the cause of this unusual taste could also be some problem such as pyorrhea or gingivitis. A lot of times, it is not possible for the cause of the unusual taste to be determined. Some simple home remedies you can try are to chew on strong sugar-free peppermint candy to remove the taste. You can also chew anise seeds to change the taste in your mouth.
