Scabies treatment Scabies is a contagious disease, affecting individuals with unhygienic practices. Acne like irritation, resembling rashes and blisters are symptoms of scabies. They are especially seen in the breasts, knees, hands, genitals and elbows.
Scabies is caused by Sarcoptes scabei var hominis, a parasite. Permethrin containing ointments, lotions and creams are preferred. Tea tree oil is a scientifically proven remedy.
Terpinen-4-ol is a chemical constituent in tea tree oil, which annihilates the parasite and reduces the itching sensation. It hastens the process of healing and decreases inflammation. Equal proportions of turmeric powder and margosa leaves are made into a paste with mustard oil. This is left on the wound for an hour. Drumstick leaves juice is mixed with sesame oil and applied for healing. Diluted orange oil is an effective remedy. Sharing of objects, such as combs, shampoos and brushes is not recommended. Dry cleaning of clothes is helpful. Carpets and furniture should be vacuum cleaned. Dried pipal bark is dusted over the lesions. Juices of orange, pineapple, melon, peaches, pear and apples are recommended. Topical application of 25 per cent benzyl benzoate is helpful. Ten per cent gamma benzene hexachloride also proves beneficial.
