Hemorrhoids advice and treatment Hemorrhoids or piles, is basically a condition caused due to inflammation of the veins in the anus and rectal area. The pressure on the walls of the rectum weakens the surrounding muscles, leading to sac-like protrusion either inside the canal (internal hemorrhoids) or under the skin around the anus (external hemorrhoids). External hemorrhoids are just as painful as internal hemorrhoids and don't necessarily bleed.
The main cause of external hemorrhoids is excessive strain on the veins of the anal opening. Incase you have a pimple like protrusion in your anus that is causing pain in passing stools, it is advisable to consult a doctor to get a correct diagnosis of the problem and get adequate treatment.
For immediate comfort from the pain and discomfort you could try applying ice-packs on the affected area.
Alternately you could sit in lukewarm water for 15 minutes to soothe the discomfort in the anal region. Remember to dry the area thoroughly after either procedure to avoid irritation caused due to wet skin. Try and use cushions if you sit for prolonged periods to decrease the pressure on the veins. Clothing also makes a very big difference – tight clothes add to the pressure on the veins, so try wearing loose-fitting clothes that breathe. Finally diet plays a crucial role in the formation of hemorrhoids, so ensure that your diet includes fibrous foods and drink lots of water to cleanse the system and enhance digestion and easy movement of the bowels.
