Bedbugs alternative remedies Bed bugs are among the most troublesome and persistent parasites around. Although they are not really a medical threat as they do not usually transmit disease, the amount of discomfort and trauma caused by bed bugs is probably even worse than that caused by other parasites such as lice and mosquitoes. To top this, they are much more difficult to get rid of — a bed bug infestation can sometimes persist for months, and it requires several tries with different techniques, and even a combination of several techniques, before one can get rid of them successfully and permanently.
Although the treatment needs to be given to the entire area that is infested, it is important to locate the specific places where the bed bugs tend to hide. They are usually in furniture joints, seams in mattress and other bed clothes, and cracks in the wall. You should focus the treatment on these areas, but it is necessary to treat the entire room, including the walls, and nearby cupboards and other furniture, and possibly your entire house as well.
You can try using some of the easily available household insecticides, but the most effective weapon is probably heat. Apply steam to your mattresses, furniture and walls thoroughly, and repeat this at least every alternate day. If your mattress seems particularly badly infested, you might simply need to throw it away. Kerosene is also supposed to be useful, but margosa oil is probably a better bet. Using a syringe or some kind of spray, squirt the liquid into all corners, cracks, and joints.
