Bruised tailbone alternative remedies The tailbone is the lowest part of the spine and is known as coccyx. An injury to the coccyx can be very painful and may last longer than other injury. Because of its location, muscle movement is unavoidable, and this exertion of muscles delays the healing of an injury.
You must immediately consult a doctor to rule out a fracture of coccyx. Some of the common symptoms of an injury in the coccyx are: pain while sitting on or getting up from a chair, pain during a bowel movement, sensitivity over the tailbone.
The following are some of the simple steps that you can take at home to reduce the discomfort of such an injury:
- Take hot showers to reduce pain.
- Apply an ice pack for 10 minutes, three times a day. This helps in decreasing swelling and pain.
- Take bed rest for the initial two to three days.
- Drink at least 2 liters of fluids everyday.
- Increase your intake of green vegetables, fruits, and cereals.
- Sit on an air cushion to reduce discomfort.
- Lean forward and move your weight away from the coccyx. This will reduce pressure on the coccyx and help in faster healing.
- Increase your intake of foods rich in calcium and Vitamin D. This will not only help in faster recovery, but will also make your bones stronger.
