Laryngitis alternative remedies

I woke up with laryngitis. Hot tea won't help or anything I can think of. Is there a fix for it?

Laryngitis alternative remedies

Laryngitis is the inflammation of vocal cords. It results in a hoarse voice and sometime even temporary loss of voice. Laryngitis is often accompanied by pain when swallowing and a blocked nose.

It is basically caused by respiratory infections and allergies, flu, smoking, and irritants such as dust and smoke. It can also be caused due to shouting or even excessive talking.
Try these simple home remedies to treat laryngitis:

  • Mix a tablespoon of lemon juice and honey, add a pinch of cayenne pepper.

    Take this once a day.
  • Take ginger tea two to three times a day.
  • Gargle with salt water to heal the vocal cords.
  • Add honey and lemon in warm water and gargle with this mixture.
  • Add a few drops of chamomile essential oil and lavender essential oil. Take a steam of this mixture.
  • Gargle with vinegar to kill bacteria. Repeat this two to three times a day.
  • Drink at least two liters of fluids in a day.
  • Suck on garlic cloves a few times a day.
  • Mix onion syrup, honey, and lemon and gargle. You can make onion syrup by boiling slices of onion in water. Wait till the mixture becomes syrupy.

You must consult a doctor and get diagnosed and treated if laryngitis lasts for more than three weeks.
