Black eye causes and natural cures Some home remedies for black eye are as follows:
- Apply an icepack within the first hour, to reduce the swelling and to reduce the internal bleeding, if any. Repeat this exercise for the first two days.
- Rub some castor oil very gently on the affected eye.
- Put some witch hazel on a wash cloth and then place the cloth over the affected eye.
- Avoid blowing your nose with too much effort.
- In the first 24 hours, hold a chilled soda can against your eye for 5 minutes, but repeat this every 15 minutes until you manage to get some ice on your eye. After this, wipe the can clean and hold it gently against your cheek and not the affected eye, because you should not be putting too much pressure on the affected eyeball.
- Deep and restful sleep is another good solution for a black eye.
- After 24 hours, you could take warm washcloths to apply moist heat on the affected eye. This would help re-absorb any extra blood.
If the black eye is troubling you to the extent that you have blurred vision, pain in your eye, some bleeding, or if you are suddenly sensitive to light, you definitely need to visit your doctor.
