Bacterial vaginosis – Read causes and prevention
Bacterial vaginosis is a vaginal infection caused by excessive growth of bacteria. This is one of the most common causes of vaginal discharge. The best medications prescribed by doctors for this bacterial infection is metronidazole and clindamycin.
These medications are antibiotics and can either be taken orally or inserted into the vagina.
But, I would rather advise you to go for natural cures and remedies rather than going for antibiotics prescribed by doctors. In some cases, after a few weeks, the original infection becomes active again. It is difficult to prevent recurrences of this bacterial infection but yet there are some preventive measures that can be helpful and beneficial in inhibiting the growth active bacteria.
The best way to prevent recurrence of bacterial vaginosis is safe and preventive sexual intercourse. Staying away from sex for next one or two months is the best measure for preventing the infection from returning. Using latex condoms can also reduce the risk of bacterial transmission. Do not douche and continue your medications even after the symptoms have disappeared.
