Ingrown Toenails Remedies

Ingrown toe nails are painful conditions that most people have experienced at some time or the other. Tight fitting shoes, even ill fitting shoes can often cause the nail to bend in on itself and grow into the flesh of the toes causing extreme discomfort and pain. .

You should first of all stop wearing tight shoes. Choose well-fitting shoes that permit your feet to breathe. If your nail is very painful, then it might even be a good idea to wear open toed shoes for a few days.

Clean and dry feet are less likely to attract any infections and so you should ensure that you dry them thoroughly. You will find that soaking your feet in warm or cold water can give you some relief. Dry your feet well before you slip on your shoes. You can try rolling a tiny piece of cotton into a wedge and pushing it in the space between your nail and the flesh of your toe. This will help create a gap between the two and give you some relief from the pain.

In the future, always remember to soak your feet in a tub of warm water. Cut your toe nails only when they have been soaked for some time. Ensure that you cut the nails in a straight line and file the edges to prevent any more ingrown nails.
