Brush your tongue when you brush your teeth, most people tend to overlook that factor when cleansing their mouths. One of the main harbors of bad breath causing agents lie on the surface of the tongue and it's important to scour it every time you brush your teeth. The tongue is beaded with tiny miniscule, threadlike protrusions that entrap and hold a film of mucus, bacteria and food that builds up over time. A regular routine of soft and mild scouring dislodges these smelly particles.

Most citrus fruits and food rich in citric acid help to control the odor of foul smelling enzymes in the mouth while the tangy and fresh zing of the citric foods freshens up the tongue and mouth. Oranges and lemons consumed daily help to a great extent in freshening up the mouth while cleaning the deep crevices within the mouth.
