Natural Cure for Infant Coughing

To watch young children suffer from cough and cold can be very distressing and especially if the cough is no way close to subsiding. You may need to observe if the child is suffering from a cold that is causing the cough. If the cough is by itself then it may be due to an allergic reaction to either pollen, smoke or dust.

You will need to take the child to the doctor to screen out possibilities of asthma if the cough is regular and persistent. Sometimes due to allergens in the air and atmosphere can cause chronic sinusitis. The nasal passages tend to get irritated due to foreign particles in the air.

Warm fluids are the best expectorants to give children. Hot soup or broth or even plain warm water works up the passages to relieve the dryness of the throat and the respiratory organs. Let the child have as much fluids as possible as coughs can dehydrate the throat. Ginger is highly effective is getting rid of dry cough. Take half a teaspoon of dried gingerroot powder and stir it in 2 cups of water. Boil this concoction and cool off after boiling. Make the child drink lukewarm sips of this herbal tea during the day. Ginger is absolutely safe for children and adults alike.
