Symptoms and Treatment for Dermamytosis

Dermatomyositis is a rare disorder conspicuous by its characteristics involving muscle weakness and a typical skin eruption in the form of fine rash in large portions of the body. The condition involves the inflammation of skin and the joint muscles. This disorder can take place at any age in an individual's life but it is usually noted in people who are above the age of 40 and in children between five years to 15 years of age.

It is likely to affect women more than men and usually takes a long duration of time to develop into a fully blown disorder. The most common signs of this disease is a scarlet or violet colored rash that develops all over the face and upper torso namely the limbs, and on the chest and back. The affected areas are usually exposed skin parts. There is also a considerable amount of weakness in muscle tissues in the hips, trunk, thighs, shoulders and neck.

Dermatomyositis has no known cure in its forms of treatment. However therapies have been developed to ease the symptoms and help the individual in leading a normal life. Certain medications and techniques can cause the patient to have increased control over muscles and also improve the complexion of the affected skin. Since it is a chronic autoimmune disease, there are various helping centers that help the patient to cope with the disease positively and face the challenge.
