Cough and phlegm home cures

If you are suffering from a cough, then it probably means that you have an infection of some kind. The infection affects your throat and results in the development of phlegm. Sometimes allergies could result in the development of a cough and phlegm.

If you have been suffering from these complaints for some time now, it is better to consult the doctor and seek his opinion before embarking on any treatments of your own.

The best way to tackle phlegm is to try to get rid of it. You will need to spit out as much phlegm as possible before you can begin to feel a little better.

Phlegm is often yellow or green and you should take note of the colour of the mucous that you are hawking up since this is often an indication of any infection that you may have.

Drinking hot water or hot water to which the juice of half a lemon has been added in addition to a spoon full of honey, provides relief from the cough.    Drinking hot milk at bedtime, with half a teaspoon of turmeric mixed in it also helps soothe the throat. You can peel a couple of cloves of garlic and consume these at bedtime for quick relief. A really hot bath can help you feel better too.
