Acne, a common problem of the skin, is a major cosmetic concern. Acne is the presence of small, red colored bumps on the skin. These give the skin an uneven look and can sometimes get irritated and become boils.
Acne is caused when the pores of the skin and the hair follicles get clogged with sebum, the skin’s natural oils produced by the sebaceous glands. When the pores get clogged, the sebum is unable to drain out to the surface of the skin. The accumulation of sebum causes the growth of bacteria that feed on it. This causes the skin to break in uneven bumps called acne. Usually, before acne appears, the skin shows the appearance of blackheads. Blackheads are caused due to the clogging of pores with oil and dirt. It is best to treat the blackheads before they turn into acne.
Acne mars the beauty of the skin. However, fortunately these can be treated completely using common household materials. Here is a list of things you can use to treat your acne. However, make sure that you are not allergic to anything before using it.
- Products containing compounds of zinc are best for acne. Zinc helps fight bacteria and can speed up the disappearance of the acne.
- Essential oils like thyme oil and tea tree oil both have active bactericidal properties. Dilute either of these with a carrier oil or rubbing alcohol and use them on the affected area. It might cause some burning and itching, but will help treat the acne naturally.
- Mix nutmeg powder with raw milk and apply this on the acne affected skin. Leave the solution on the skin for about two hours before washing it off. This is an excellent remedy that can make the acne disappear without leaving any scars.
- Mix some honey and powdered cinnamon to make a smooth paste. Before going to bed, apply this and leave it on overnight. In the morning, wash it off with warm water.
- The rind of orange is an excellent remedy for acne and other skin problems. Take a few pieces of fresh orange rind and dry it in the sun. Once it is completely dry, grind it into a powder. Now mix the powder with some water and apply this paste on the acne affected skin.
- The freshly squeezed juice of mint leaves also has a great healing effect on the acne. Use this juice to treat your acne every day for two weeks. This juice can also be used for other skin problems and infections.
