Hair loss can be a very embarrassing situation for anyone who is experiencing it. Although there are celebrities who sport the “bald look” once in a while, not everyone is comfortable with losing their hair. Today, hair loss in both men and women is a big problem.

Unless this loss of hair is a side effect of heavy medication like chemotherapy, it can be a socially challenging situation.

In most cases, the loss of hair can be blamed on a person’s diet. Although hormones are also major contributing factor, they can be controlled by following a good, healthy, and balanced diet. A diet that is high in animal protein and fat causes the pH balance of the blood to change, making the blood acidic. This acidic blood is often the culprit behind thinning hair. There are temporary causes like menopause, pregnancy, stress, and birth control pills that can cause you to lose hair, but generally as soon as the circumstances change, your hair fall stops too. If you have been dieting excessively or have eating disorders like bulimia, these too can throw your hormones into disarray. To control your diet in order to stop hair fall, here’s what you can do.

1.    Avoid consuming excessive amounts of animal proteins and fats. These cause the body to lose its alkalinity, resulting in hair loss. Hair loss is usually associated with a diet that is high in proteins and fats. Such a diet can damage the kidneys and cause poor draining of excretory materials. To maintain the health of the kidneys, it is also best to stay off sweet foods, especially bakery products.

2.    An excessive amount of salt in the diet also causes hair loss. In fact, some researchers believe that it is the biggest cause of baldness in men.

3.     Hair fall may also be caused by acute deficiencies. If you have a zinc deficiency, that might explain the hair loss. You may need to start taking zinc supplements. However, you need to talk to your doctor before you start any kind of treatment.

4.    Get yourself checked for any form of dermatitis on the scalp. Eczemas and other fungal infections can cause decreased growth of hair and baldness in patches.

5.    A poor appetite can be a result of poor digestion. This too can lead to loss of hair. Make sure that you have regular meals that are balanced and nutritious.

6.
Supplements of sulfur are also often necessary to resume hair growth and slow down hair loss. However, take the supplements only after consulting with a doctor.

Hair Loss Home Remedies

It is important to confirm your doubt about hormonal imbalance. Consult a specialist who would advise you certain hormonal tests to confirm. After a correct diagnosis treatment options would be many including medications (if required) and diet. For hair loss and to get rid of facial hair you can try the following remedies till then:

  • Massage your hair with a mixture of coconut oil and castor oil when warm for 15-20 minutes lightly and gently with the tips of your fingers. Then wrap a hot towel around your hair and leave it for 30-45 minutes before washing the hair. This is a very effective remedy for hair loss.
  • Lavender oil when applied on regular basis on the scalp also increases the growth of hair significantly.
  • For facial hair try to pluck the large and thick ones with a sterilized tweezers.
  • Try to bleach them naturally with the help of lemon or use chemical bleach if the hair growth is not too dense.
  • Waxing and threading the unwanted facial hair would also be considered a good option.
According to your height your weight is also above your ideal body weight, it should be ideally 8-10 kg less. If you suspect hormonal imbalance also check for PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome) as weight gain and facial hair growth are two striking symptoms of this syndrome.
