Vaginal irritation advice and cures It is hard to take a call in this case, but since both doctors have conducted tests and found positive signs of both Bacterial vaginosis and trichomoniasis, you should consider the possibility that maybe you have both infections.
Trichomoniasis is caused by the protozoan parasite trichomonas vaginalis. You can get this infection through sexual intercourse with an infected partner, or through contact with items such as infected wet towels or public toilets.
In trichomoniasis, you will most likely see a greenish frothy discharge. This is treated through a course of anti parasitic medication.
Bacterial vaginosis is caused by bacteria such as gardnerella, Chlamydia or gonorrhea and is treated by a course of antibiotics.
You will need to speak to your doctor about getting a course.
Some natural remedies for both conditions include:
- Eating lots of yoghurt or supplementing with probiotics
- Wearing loose fitting cotton undergarments
- Applying unsweetened yoghurt topically
- Applying betadine solution topically. But don't do this more than once a week.
- Take Grapeseed extract in supplement form. This is a natural antibacterial.
- Apple cider vinegar may be consumed in its natural, unrefined form. It also has good anti bacterial properties
Preventive measures to take to prevent future infections are:
- Not using harsh and scented products in the vaginal region
- Avoiding public toilets and baths
- Wipe from front to back after using the toilet
