Menses cramps natural remedies Menstruation is a part and parcel of a woman's life during her fertile years. While they are uncomfortable, they also have a protective effect on a woman's reproductive system. Of course, you cannot help but wish you did not have to deal with the associated pain and cramping.
Some women have greater pain than others and for them the first couple of days of the period can be quite an ordeal. Thankfully there is a lot you can do to ease the discomfort and cramping. Here are some remedies that are said to be effective for the problem:
- Exercise throughout the month. Get at least 30-45 minutes of exercise every day. This has been shown to reduce the pain associated with cramping
- When the pain is excessive, use a hot water bottle or a heating bad in the abdominal area. Heat helps ease cramps.
- You can make an infusion by slicing up some gingerroot and letting it simmer in a cup of water for about 15 minutes.
- About 800 mg of Calcium a day or roughly three servings of milk a day should be taken. Weight conscious people can drink skimmed milk. Vegans can try fortified soya milk or other foods rich in calcium such as spinach.
- Magnesium helps the body absorb calcium. It may be taken in supplement form or through foods such as beans, whole wheat flour, salmon, tofu and nuts
- Aloe vera gel is also good for the condition.
