Stomach virus home treatment The important thing during a stomach viral attack or gastroenteritis is to take lots of rest and keep your body hydrated. Drink plenty of water over the course of the day, but take a few sips at a time. You can also drink some Gatorade to replenish lost minerals.
Other fluids to take are fruit juices ( not sour ones) and coconut water.
You can make up some peppermint tea with fresh leaves or some ginger tea. Both of these soothe the stomach.
Take a little of each, however as in excess they may irritate. Ease back into eating solids once you feel a little better. You can start off with light soups or broths that are not overly spiced. And at the next meal you can try some rice, bananas, apple sauce or toast. For at least a couple of days remain on a non spicy non oily food diet
If you have diarrhoea, unless it last for more than 48 hours, you can try and ride it out rather than taking medication to halt it. This is the body's way of flushing out toxins. IN the event of severe pain cramping or diarrhoea that last for over 48 hours, please consult your health care giver at the earliest.
