Leg pain and restlessness remedies 

Pain in the legs may be because of muscular cramps, joint pains or fatigue. It could also be that you are sitting for long periods of time in an uncomfortable posture. The important thing is to identify what is causing the pain If you have just begun an exercise regime, it is possible that you are overdoing it.


Try reducing the intensity of exercise and increasing it slowly over a period of weeks. Also never do any rigorous exercise without warming up and stretching before hand.

If the problem is in the joints, then warm compresses applied to the aching areas will help.


If the problem is rheumatic or arthritic joint pain, please take supplements containing Omega 3 fats and a turmeric extract called curcumin. These will reduce inflammation and therefore bring down the pain.

The flowing are herbal remedies to reduce cramping and muscle pain:

  • Apply herbal compresses containing St.John's Wort, chamomile or witch hazel
  • You can prepare a salve using Arnica or Cayenne pepper. Arnica is a natural pain reliever and Cayenne Pepper improves circulation.
  • Massage the area with Lavender oil.
  • Make infusions of Valerian or rosemary and drink them.

If you have to sit for long periods of time or even stand for long periods of time without much movement, your legs may be longing for some exercise. Try and take a break and walk around a bit every hour or so. Also keep changing your sitting position frequently.

The feeling of restlessness may be on account of lack of sleep, general fatigue, high stress levels or emotional distress of some kind. See if you can spend a certain amount of time doing breathing exercises or meditation. Try and spend time outdoors with nature or perhaps keeping a pet may help you unwind.
