Alternative Cure for Shingle Pain
Shingles are caused by the chicken pox virus, herpes zoster. You may experience itching and burning initially and after a few days you may see blisters or rash. Blisters will normally heal within a couple of weeks, but shingles pain may last much longer than that.
Also, shingles may reoccur at any time.
Here are some natural remedies to help with the blisters and the pain: - Apply some calamine lotion. It will help dry the blisters out and stop the oozing. You can add some rubbing alcohol to the calamine for increased efficacy.
- Take Vitamin supplements: They will help boost your immune system and help your body overcome the infection. A multi-vitamin supplement that contains zinc may be helpful. You can take about 500mg-1g of Vitamin C daily in addition.
- Vitamin E may be taken internally or applied directly to the blisters. You can prick a vitamin E capsule and apply its fluid to the blistered area.
- The amino acid lysine is also said to have a beneficial effect for shingles pain. You can take it in supplement form
- Apply hydrogen peroxide to the blisters to prevent secondary infection. But other than that keep the area dry as it will heal faster that way.
- Apply an ice compress. Do not apply ice directly. Wrap 3-4 ice cubes in a flannel cloth and stroke the area gently.
