I believe I have a UTI. Will the home remedies work or should I still go to the doctor and get a prescription?

Alternative Treatment for Urinary Tract Infection
Urinary tract infection refers to the infection in the ureters, urethra and bladder. It is a common infection among women. Typical symptoms of UTI are cloudy urine, increased urge to urinate, smaller volumes of urine and burning sensation.
Vomiting, chills, constant pain, nausea and fever are some symptoms that indicate the spread of infection to the kidneys. The latter is referred to as pyelonephritis. Initial stages of infection are rectified by home remedies.
A physician's guidance is recommended. Certain home remedies decrease the infection. To name a few: - Application of castor oil on the abdomen helps in reducing inflammation.
- Cranberry juice is an excellent remedy for urinary infection.
- Adequate intake of water and fluids help in elimination of toxins.
- Avoid alcohol and smoking.
- Spicy foods and caffeinated beverages are avoided in the diet.
- Place a hot compress on the abdominal region to relieve pain.
- Controlling the urge to urinate is not recommended.
- Washing the vaginal region, after intercourse and emptying the bladder helps in preventing infection.
- Avoid douches and harsh chemicals in the private areas, as they trigger infection.
