Natural Treatment for Fever Blisters
Fever blisters, also referred to as cold sores are caused by Herpes simplex virus. These are seen to affects the face, skin, buttocks and the anal area. Application of a cold compress is an effective remedy.
Washing the hands and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene is useful. Over-the-counter ointments prove beneficial. Soothing lip balms are useful. Avoid kissing anybody, as the infection is contagious. Antiviral drugs are also effective. Avoid dry weathers, as they aggravate the condition. Supplements of zinc hasten healing.
Yoghurt in the diet helps in restoring the micro flora of the intestine and mouth. Topical application of vitamin E is an excellent remedy. The duration of the fever blisters are decreased by the supplementation of ascorbic acid, at a dosage of 200 to 500 mg. But, all kinds of supplements require medical attention. Try supplementing your diet with relevant foods.
Apply aloe vera gel topically to provide immediate relief. Cornstarch paste is also applied. A few drops of grape seed extract is mixed with olive oil and dabbed on the affected area. Supplements of lysine, an amino acid are an effective method of treatment.
