Shingles home treatment Shingles are skin rashes that appear on certain parts of the body and are very painful. In the initial stages, headaches and fever occur. And a week or two later, the rash appears.
The pain that these rashes cause can be unbearable. To tackle this pain and bring immediate relief, wrap the affected areas on the body with cold dressings. You can also use a towel that has been dipped in cold water and then wrung dry.
The pain does however last for a while, so do keep a number of such dressings or towels handy. Do not use tight clothing or woolen attire when the rash is ripe, as doing so will only aggravate the situation.
Eat a lot of chocolates and peanuts. You can also add nuts, seeds, and cereal grains to your diet menu. These foods are known to be rich in arginine — an amino acid that helps to cure shingles. Vitamin E is also an effective remedy against shingles. Corn, olives and spinach contain high levels of Vitamin E. In addition, you might also want to cook up and eat in Vitamin E rich vegetable oils made from corn, sunflower, soya bean and cottonseed. And ensure you have green leafy vegetables as a side dish.
