How do I deal with itchy skin

Alternative Cure for Itchy Skin

Itchy skin is usually a result of excessively dry skin. This happens when your body lacks the moisture to keep your skin hydrated and healthy. A highly effective home remedy for dry skin is to moisturize it on a daily basis after a warm bath.

You must use an olive oil-based product for this purpose, since olive oil has therapeutic properties as well. It is best to apply the moisturizer as soon as you step out from a bath for best effect.

You must exfoliate your skin on a weekly basis. You can make your own exfoliating scrub using sugar crystals, powdered walnuts and olive oil. Rub this gently all over your body for at least five minutes. It will help to slough off dead skin cells as well as heal dry and itchy skin. Bathe with warm water and a mild, creamy soap. If you wish to avoid using oil for your scrub, you can also make a simple oatmeal scrub. Tie four tablespoons of whole oatmeal in a thin muslin cloth or a nylon sock and use this to scrub. For excessive bouts of itching, apply a mashed overripe banana mixed with milk cream and a few drops of jojoba oil to extra dry areas. A milk bath is also a good way to keep your skin well moisturized and healthy. Simply pour a gallon of whole milk in a tub of warm water, and soak for some time. Bathe as usual for healthy, glowing skin.
