Alternative Treatment for Infant Cold
There are several ways to help your child sleep better even with a congested chest and severe cold. Put a few drops of eucalyptus oil on a handkerchief and place this in the area where the baby's head lies. Cover the handkerchief with a couple of layers of cloth and then put the child to sleep on this.
It will help the baby to breathe easier and will also take care of the congestion while she is asleep.
Grapes are a very good expectorant and will clear up the baby's lungs. Give her a teaspoon of warm grape juice before bedtime.
This should help her to sleep easily. Put a pinch of turmeric in warm milk and feed this to the baby. It will help heal the cold from within as well as loosen phlegm and fight infection. If the baby does not take it easily, you can add some honey to this. Place a warm compress on the baby's chest and leave it there for some time. This will also help in easing her breathing and enable her to sleep better. The Indian Ayurvedic herb Winter cherry will also assist the baby to sleep better. It is easily available in pill form and you must follow the prescribed dosage for infants on the package.
